Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and Setspace (“Setspace”, “we”) for using setspace.ng. By creating an account or booking or listing a space, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Setspace.
1. What Setspace does
Setspace is a marketplace. We connect people who want to book creative spaces by the hour (“guests”) with people who own or manage those spaces (“hosts”). We take payments from guests and pay hosts. We don’t own, run or inspect every space, and we aren’t a party to the arrangement between guest and host beyond what these terms say.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement.
- Use your real name, and keep your login to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, put others at risk, or misuse the site.
3. Fees
- Guests pay the host’s hourly price plus a 10% Setspace service fee, shown before you pay.
- Hosts pay no fee to Setspace and receive their full price for each completed shoot.
- Prices are in Nigerian naira. Payments are processed by Paystack; Setspace never sees or stores your card details.
4. Booking
- A guest sends a request. The host has 24 hours to accept or decline. Once accepted, the guest has 24 hours to pay.
- A booking is confirmed only when payment is received. The exact address is shared with the guest after payment.
- Cancellations and refunds follow our cancellation and refund policy.
- Promo codes are offered by Setspace, can be used once per guest, and may be withdrawn at any time.
5. Paying outside Setspace is not allowed
Guests and hosts must not arrange to pay for a booking found on Setspace outside Setspace. Bookings paid outside Setspace aren’t covered by our refund policy or support, and we may close accounts that do this.
6. Guests’ responsibilities
- Arrive and leave on time, and keep to the crew size you agreed.
- Follow the space’s house rules, which you agree to when you request a booking.
- Leave the space as you found it. You’re responsible for damage caused by you or your crew.
- Don’t use a space for anything illegal or unsafe.
7. Hosts’ responsibilities
- Only list spaces you have the right to rent out, and describe them honestly, with real photos.
- Keep your calendar and opening hours up to date, answer requests on time, and honour confirmed bookings.
- Make sure the space is safe and matches its listing, including amenities like power and air conditioning.
- You’re responsible for any permits, insurance and taxes that apply to renting out your space.
- Setspace checks new listings before they go live and may decline or remove a listing at any time.
8. Payouts to hosts
We send hosts their price for each shoot to the bank account they add on Setspace, starting the day after the shoot ends. Transfers are made through Paystack. We may hold a payout while we look into a complaint about that booking.
9. Overtime, damage and disputes
If a guest overstays, brings a bigger crew than agreed or causes damage, the host should message the guest on Setspace and tell us at hello@setspace.ng within 48 hours of the shoot, with photos. Any overtime fee in the space’s house rules is owed by the guest. We’ll help both sides reach a fair outcome, but Setspace is not an insurer and doesn’t guarantee payment for damage.
10. Reviews and ratings
After a shoot, guests can review the space and hosts can rate the guest. Reviews must be honest and about the booking. Guest reviews are published once the host has rated the guest or 14 days after the shoot. Host ratings of guests are only shown to hosts. We may remove reviews that are abusive, false, or break the law.
11. Messages
Keep messages respectful and about bookings. Setspace staff may read messages to keep people safe, prevent fraud, and resolve disputes.
12. Liability
We work hard to keep Setspace running and accurate, but we provide it “as is”. To the extent the law allows, Setspace isn’t liable for loss or damage arising from a stay at a space, the conduct of guests or hosts, or the site being unavailable, and our total liability for any booking is limited to the service fee paid for it. Nothing here limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll let you know by email. Continuing to use Setspace after a change means you accept the new terms.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes go to the courts of Lagos State.
